He holds undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, is a member of the UT Development Board, and co-teaches a class on the television business in UT's Moody College of Communication.

A native Texan, Jaan holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in Finance and in the Business Honors Program, with leadership roles in the Texas Cowboys, Friar Society, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
